Mad Butcher brings back the Vodafone Warriors Yearbook

The Mad Butcher and Suburban Newspapers Community Trust has published the Vodafone Warriors 2010 Yearbook - with proceeds going to Diabetes.

"I was diagnosed with diabetes this year so I wanted to help and I came up with the idea of reviving the yearbook, which hasn't been done for a season or two" said Peter Leitch.

The Vodafone Warriors agreed to support the project, Suburban Newspapers' staff produced it and leading print organisation PMP agreed to print the 72 page book free, so more money could be passed on to diabetes.

I have done a few projects for charity but this one was quite amazing because we had nothing but an idea before the people at Suburbans took it up.   They are flat out at this time of the year but they put an amazing amount of time and energy into it and in a matter of weeks we had a 72-page book in time for Christmas."

The Trust is having 8000 books printed and plans to sell as many as it can for $10 each through Mad Butcher shops, all Suburban Newspapers offices in Auckland, all Vodafone shops and participating Digital Mobile and First Mobile stores.

"Diabetes, cancer and heart disease are no longer the diseases of the wealthy.  Today, they hamper the people and the economies of the poorest populations even more than infectious diseases.   This represents a public health emergency in slow motion."
Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations Secretary-General
